The *Zine Fest Berlin* will be the city's first major event to celebrate

independent publishing and the subversive culture of zines (self-made
magazines). Self-organized by various zine-enthusiats, the Zine Fest
Berlin aims to gather self-publishers and zine-lovers together across an
international crowd. The weekend is filled with over 10 workshops, on such
topics as stencil-making, screen printing, comics, the history of zines,
writing, and how to make a zine. There will also be open discussions,
zine-readings, singer songwriter-music, cookies, and tables and tables of

people showcasing their zines, books, comics, and artwork.
As if a whole zine festival wasn't exciting enough, the ZFB is collaborating
this year with the well known *Shut Up and Speak*, a Women/ Lesbian/
Trans* spoken word performance night, which will feature at 20:00 Saturday
at the same venue.
